John's BirthDEGA gift!

After last week's blog, the perfect weather became tornado watches and warnings. As last year, we planned to run for cover in the ditch behind us. We were glad we didn't have to take cover; with all the rain, the ditch became a river!

Before the storms came, we wandered the souvenir trailer area and looked at all the overpriced merchandise. We found the SPEED stage, where several race shows are broadcast from. We were in the audience when a race promotion was shown on the SPEED channel, and Sunday during NASCAR Race Day, we got on TV! Did you see us?? (lower right corner - this was Friday)
Saturday after Kyle Busch won the Nationwide race we participated in the Coca-Cola Track Walk. The whole track is 2.66 miles, but the Track Walk was only about a mile. Appearances were made by Bobby Allison, Kurt Busch, Joey Logano, & Bobby LaBonte. Free Coke products were handed out and there was a live band for entertainment. We listened for a while then decided to walk back to the rig. The Track Walk was nothing compared to the long walk home. We made it and I went right to bed!

Sunday was the cup race, and of course it was great! My driver, Dale Jr. 'pushed' his teammate Jimmie Johnson to the finish line, and as thanks, Jimmie gave Jr. the checkered flag.

Here's a link to our Talladega pictures: http://www.facebook.com/media/set/fbx/?set=a.1905452085015.2110753.1503168729&l=a4add8ffae

Monday was the big day when John got to redeem last year's birthday gift from me.

He drove 6 laps around Talladega Super Speedway!

I had a great time cheering for him and being a 'race wife'.

He said he gained more respect for the drivers who make it look so easy.

On the way back to Unadilla the next day, we went to visit my grandmother and celebrated her 3/4 birthday!!

Early this Good Friday morning, John and our friend from the campground left for MI. They're pulling our friend's pontoon boat, as he is moving up there for the summer.
Happy Easter! He Is Risen! Alleluia!
