Saturday, John, myself, and grandson Sean got up at o'dark early and left for the Minnesota fairgrounds in St. Paul for the "Back to the 50's" car show.
Can you see the (Dodge) Ram head in this flame? It's a profile view of the Ram's right side.
During the day we stopped by the Speedway Motors rig to visit with our friends that we hadn't seen for about a year. If you need any parts for your classic car, hot rod, or specialty ride, check out their site at http://www.speedwaymotors.com/.
The covers are over the displays because during the day, the rain came down steady for about an hour, then on & off. We were prepared with our ponchos & an umbrella, so it didn't slow us down any.
Father's Day we attended church and enjoyed the men's choir from Minnesota Teen Challenge, a faith based recovery program for those struggling with drug and/or alcohol addiction that shows addicts how the gap that they are trying to fill with earthly substances can only be filled with Jesus. Their mission is "to assist teens and adults in gaining freedom from chemical additions and other life-controlling problems by addressing their physical, emotional, and spiritual needs" (http://www.mntc.org/). Several of the men shared their testimony and it was quite a moving and inspirational day.
That afternoon, John got Father's day wishes via two phone calls, then Amber (who's driveway we are parked in) came over and spoiled John with mint chocolate Girl Scout cookies and new computer speakers. She even spent the time to hook them up for us! He's a loved dad, grandpa, and great-grandpa! (& husband!!)
The first day of summer brought Christmas weather. At least a GA or a southern NV Christmas weather. Cloudy, windy, rainy, and then misty with temperatures not even reaching 60 degrees. After two days of that, John & I took advantage of Amber's employee benefits at a nearby resort and enjoyed 2 hours in their jacuzzi, pool, and sauna! aaaahh! I think we can survive now. Yesterday the mist stopped long enough for Amber & myself to go for a walk with 2 of the grandsons. That also helped chase the dreary weather blues away. This afternoon the sun is suppose to shine and temperatures should be in the 70s for the weekend!
If you have signed up to receive this blog by email, I have removed that option, since the videos were not coming through in the email version. Remember our Talladega cake that our oldest grandson's wife made? You can now see that and many more with one click. She has gotten her blog up and running with pictures and descriptions of the cakes she makes. Check it out at http://www.debbieslittlecakes.blogspot.com/ but be prepared to be amazed and to have your sweet tooth take off at full speed!
