YEA Jr!!!

Our trip to Duluth last Friday went just as scheduled. We even got to go topless, which of course, we love to do!
Sunday was Father’s Day and we went to church, but none of our kids went. We stopped on the way home at one daughter’s to get Father’s Day wishes and hugs, plus wish our son in law a happy day, and then rushed home to watch the NASCAR race from Michigan! Our driveway hostess daughter brought over a whole pan of brownies, plus gave John another appropriate t-shirt (it says BEHOLD FARTACUS). He also got his usual box of thin mint Girl Scout cookies and a bag of pretzel M&Ms!
My favorite part of that day was when JUNIOR WON THE RACE!!! WHOO HOO!! Dale Earnhardt Jr won the Michigan race 4 years ago, and now the question of when he will win again has been answered! Yes, I’m a proud member of “Jr Nation”!! The wife of one of Jr’s team members had a baby that morning and they named her Lily Ann. After Jr’s win, there was talk of changing her name to Michig Ann!
Our daughter is getting married in August, and she asked me to prepare the flowers! I’m thrilled, and a little stressed, as she wants real flowers. However, the color she chose was aqua, and since live aqua flowers are rare, I researched ribbon roses. Here are a few I’ve ‘grown’! I'll likely arrange the ribbon roses with live lilies, and hopefully the arrangements will look beautiful.
Some day when I have time, I would like to make these shoes!!
I found the idea and instructions  online!!! Chronicles Of A Shoe-Obsessed Bride, Part 5 (Ribbon Flower and Shoe Cuff Tutorial) : wedding diy mountain view shoes tutorial Img 62201

Tuesday morning John and I pulled out of our daughter’s driveway and left for a campground near  Mille Lacs Lake, about 90 miles away. What was different about this trip is that on the way we picked up Sophia, our 6 year old granddaughter and took her with! She has spent the night with us a few times before, and this time we decided to bump up the adventure! Before we left, we went out for breakfast with Sophia, her mom, and sister. As we were ready to leave, we couldn’t get the door open again. This time we were locked out instead of in! The cats were no help, so we got out the ladder, opened the window, and sent in our granddaughter! It’s a good thing she came along! She handed out the keys which, this time, did not solve our problem.  However, between Sophia on the inside and John on the outside, somehow they got the door open and away we went!
We drove in and out of the rain and made it safely to Pete’s Retreat, near Malmo, MN. This is a beautiful park! It’s very grassy, with the roads and sites being gravel. There is a family pool, splash pool, and a hot tub! The store is well stocked, including an ice cream bar, and a place to borrow books, games, and movies!! That was nice during the rain!!
The best part has been the family that pulled in next to us. They have a little girl the same age as Sophia and a little boy who’s 4. They have played and played and played the whole time. The family lives about 40 miles from Two Harbors. We’ve all had a great time together, especially the kids!! Last night we had S'mores! We’re both pulling out later today. They already had plans to go to another campground, and we’re not sure where our next stop is. We had planned to go back to Two Harbors, of course, but with so much rain this week, there have been a lot of road closures due to wash outs. After the first night with us, Sophia got much more comfortable, and said that she wished we could stay until next Wednesday! Unfortunately, this campground is sold out this weekend, so we can’t stay here. John is contacting the highway patrol to get travel information. We might camp in our grandson’s driveway in Little Falls. We were looking for adventure, and as always we found it!
Speaking of adventure, yesterday marked the halfway point of my theology class. From my instructor's comment on my previous week’s assignment of 1250 – 1500 words, "it is rare that a paper deserves full credit"... but mine did!! YIPPEE! With all the required reading and expected participation, I have to thank God for the abilities He blessed me with, and give Him all the glory for the 100% grade.
During the week, an early phone call got me out of bed (grr!), but on the other end was a voice singing "Good Morning to YOU", which made the wake up call much less traumatic. It was a friend of John's from 40 + years ago!! They went to trade school together.
